The North Devon Tour, staying 3 nights/2 days, we had 22 XK owners from around the country staying at the Fox and Hounds Country Hotel, Chulmleigh Devon.

During the briefing before leaving the hotel everyone was told what group they were in. My dedicated drivers and partners who I press ganged in to helping me were Les & Gill, Edward & Gill and John & Sarah, by splitting the cars into 4 groups, making it easier to manage the convoy on the busy country roads.

Day 1: We all went to Quince Honey farm for morning coffee and look around the gift shop. Headed back to the car park and once again we fired up the V8 engines, leaving in a convoy heading across Exmoor to Dunster a pretty village, with shops and a castle to explore before making a leisurely drive back to the hotel.

Day 2: We left the hotel once again in the same group of convoys to Lynmouth an hours drive with beautiful views of Exmoor once again and great driving roads. At Lynmouth we all managed to park on the sea front, a nice display of XKs. After exploring the shops and museum I think most of us took the famous Lynton and Lynmouth cliff railway. You could explore Lynton or just sit in the railway café and admire the fantastic views of the Bay.
After that a short drive away (10 minutes) was the Lynton and Barnstaple steam railing, Victorian carriages, it was only 2 miles return trip from Woody Bay Station, run by volunteers, very pretty place to visits and lovely cream teas from the on-site café.

Gary & I would like to thank everyone involved in helping us put this tour together. Its a lot of planning about a year before the actual event but worth it, to meet such lovely people that become friends and from your feed back it was another successful social weekend.
