Fleet Air Arm Museum and Lime Kiln Inn
17 January 2026
For our first trip of the year we travelled to the Fleet Air Arm museum at Yeovilton. This is a venue that never disappoints and after wishing each other a happy new year we went on a superb tour around the museum.
Once we had satisfied our thirst for knowledge it was off to the excellent Lime Kiln Inn to quench our other thirst and partake of a lovely social lunch accompanied by plenty of chat and banter!!

The group from the South West led by Edward Mann had a get together at the fabulous Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford near Yeovil. There was a tremendous turnout as the region had its inaugural meet .
The museum is a great visit with an excellent café and all the members enjoyed a fabulous time out, the red room is to be seen to be believed.
Yorkshire 4 day Tour September 2023
24 September 2023
Edward and Gill organised a trip up North for us all in September, staying the first 2 nights in Matlock, then 2 nights at the Forest of Vale Pickering.

Day 1: We drove to the Chatworth farm shop and then onto Castleton for a couple of hours to explore the area and have lunch.
We then travelled to Derwent Reservoir, several walked up to the dam wall which was used for the final preparations of the famous Dam busters raids on the RUHR valley by 617 squadron led by Guy Gibson VC

Day 2: A visit to the Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath, lots of things to explore the history of Abraham, a great place to visit with breath-taking views. After lunch Edward took the lead to the roads of the strines before heading to Pickering Yorkshire.

Day 3: A free day to explore the area, some took the train into Whitby, we drove across the Yorkshire moor to Whitby and on the return journey we visited the filming location of Heartbeat.

Day 4: We visited the Mathewson's old premises at Thornton Le Dale before everyone making there journey home.

It was a great success, everyone enjoyed the trip, lovely scenery and great driving roads and it was well organised by Edward and Gill, Thank you
